March Delivered :)

I've always been a big fan of March.  S, not so much.  He thinks it's too muddy and cold and spring doesn't really happen until April.  I disagree.  March is when things start to happen.  On March 6th I saw, for the first time this year, daffodils poking through the ground.  Oh man was I excited!  And, although we're having a bit of a cold spell this week, last week we got a glimpse of summer with temps in the high 70s.  Lovely.  Just lovely.  Even better that the whole family was on spring break from our teaching/university positions and we got to spend the week outside together.  Family=love.

We went to Strattenbrook every day last week.

Especially with the move coming up, I've really been trying to incorporate a more Waldorf style of living into our home.  I'm hoping having a backyard, a family room where the computer is not in the center of the everythin,g and well, a Kitchen! will make it more achievable compared to our current apartment.  I'm so excited about setting up a Waldorf playspace and just having room in our own home to have fun with Asher.  Our children are going to have a home!  I can't stop thinking/saying it!

Oh, and speaking of, possibly (most definitely) the best part of this month . . .

Getting to meet see someone special on March 15th.

Baby #2 Hopefully joining us mid-October!

I was really starting to think this miracle would never happen.  Too many doctors and tests and talk of IUI/IVF and then on February 6th (when I only tested because we had to go back to the doctor), there it was.  Two lines.  I'm thanking God every single day for blessing us with this baby, and praying that any woman battling infertility will soon see those two lines.

February Re-Cap

Big month.  Like big big month.  Like 3 bedrooms and a great backyard kind of month.  Yay . . .

We'll hopefully be moving this month into April.  I'm so excited that Asher is going to have so much more space and a yard to play in.  We're close to a great big park with hiking trails, a playground, a nature center, and a barn with animals.  A bit sad about leaving Simsbury, but then again it's always taken me some time to get used to change.

Can I also add that I have the best husband ever?  He's so wonderful, and makes me so happy.  I love him so much.

More posts to come with news from our awesome month filled with great big news.  Change is just beginning. . .

Oh, and by the way . . .
I love him.  And his obsession with trucks.  And how we can go to the playground and rather than play with other toys, he will wait 40 minutes until this particular crane truck is available.  And that the first thing he says whenever he wakes up his "play."  And how recently he's throwing himself around my neck and saying "I Love You! I Love You! I Love You!" over and over and over.  And his Asher language: "minkus" (music), "woogies" (pierogies), "cottie cotter" (helicopter), "skeep" (sweep), and "skeet potatoes" (sweet potatoes).  And how he always wants to read the "cottie cotter book", even though we've never had a helicopter book.  Love.

New England Love

I (usually) really love living in New England.  I love the change of season, the many hiking trails, the closeness to our families, and our picturesque, family-friendly New England town.  I admittedly, however, was in such a funk after returning from Florida.  I missed the warm weather, the sandals, the spending hours outside playing without worrying if the kid is getting too cold.  The first few days after coming back were cold.  As my husband would say (he looks for opportunities to use this phrase), "It's colder than a witch's tit in a cast iron bra."  So cold I was about to start job hunting for organist positions in the south.  About a week later, though, New England and I reconciled our differences.  We got a few snows and spent the next few days behind the local ice cream parlor using their awesome hill as our sledding playground.  It was Asher's first time sledding and he loved it.

The very end of the month has been unusually warm, however, and despite our lovely snow days we are very much enjoying the sun.  Yesterday Asher and I were throwing rocks in the stream for about an hour, coat-free!

February is looking to be an exciting month, a month full of learning!.  I'm taking an online course in rhythm in the home, and so far it has been wonderful.  I've been thinking so much more about how and when we do things at home.  I've already gotten some great advice on meal planning and organizing.

Even though we have a few years, I've alsobeen doing a good amount of reading and research on homeschooling and various methods/curriculum.  As it stands, I know I want to use both a Christian and Waldorf focus. The Windsor library has many books on homeschooling, and as a result there is a foot-high stack of homeschooling books next to me right now.  I've read one book so far, and I'm sure this month I will be learning lots of great information about homeschooling.

January!

Yeh, fell off the wagon again.  But got back on!
January has been an interesting month. Asher and I went to Florida to see his Great Grandma!

On Monday, our second day there, I came down with the stomach flu and we had to spend much of the day inside, but thankfully got over that quickly!

With the new semester work has started up again for all of us.  Even Asher is now "working" at our local nursing homes on Tuesdays.  I take him and sing hymns/play the piano, and Asher does all his little nursery rhymes for the residents.  They love him!!!!  It has been such a wonderful, fulfilling opportunity.  One of our biggest goals is to teach Asher to put other people before himself, but it is difficult to do as he is so little and there are not many volunteer opportunities out there for toddlers.  Bringing him to perform and visit with the residents has brought so much joy to their lives, and he knows it.  We are so thankful for all our blessings, and so happy to be able to give back.
